The QA Phantom for Multiple Brain Lesions has a rectangular format with rounded corners to minimize CT artifacts and is sufficiently large to encompass brain anatomical variations. The linear attenuation of the simulated brain tissue is within 1% of real tissue from 50 keV to 15 MeV.
The phantom has two pairs of asymmetric embedded fiducial markers and a central fiducial marker split in half at the phantom isocenter to assist you during pre-irradiation imaging. You can also align the image fiducials (from a CBCT, ExacTrac®, or kV images) and compare them with the phantom reference image to make more precise adjustments of the phantom with the linear accelerator couch.
The phantom receives radiochromic film in up to 29 locations in 5 mm increments. Pre-loaded polyester film sheets allow flexibility in film placement without affecting sensitive geometry. External grooves and markings on the sides of the phantom help with easy film positioning only at desired locations to cover specific lesions. The film allows multiple planning target volumes (PTVs) to be reviewed individually.
