The ATOM® Phantom Family is uniquely designed to investigate organ doses and whole-body effective doses, as well as for verifying therapeutic radiation doses.
Proven Tissue Equivalence Technology: The ATOM® Phantom Family represents a complete line of anthropomorphic and cross-section dosimetric phantoms that leverage the extensive tissue simulation experience and expertise that only Sun Nuclear can offer.
Dosimetric Investigation and Verification: Each phantom age considers key variations in tissue composition due to age or sex and considers variations in bone mineral density. This results in a more accurate physical model for investigating radiation interactions with different tissues. This allows for more accurate dose calculations across different age groups.
Dosimeter Hole Configuration: All ATOM sections are drilled with a series of holes for dosimeter placement. Each hole is initially filled with a solid tissue-equivalent cap.
ATOM Phantoms offer three different hole configurations: organ dosimetry grid, 3 x 3 cm grid, or 1.5 x 1.5 cm grid.
CT and cone beam CT dosimetry may require organ dosimetry and whole-body dosimetry.
Enabling Safer Human Space Travel
NASA's Artemis I mission to the Moon will feature two ATOM Phantoms specially designed for women. "Helga" and "Zohar" will fly as surrogates for female astronauts to help determine the risk to radiation-sensitive organs and ensure more inclusive possibilities for the future of human spaceflight.
