Orfit – patient positioning and immobilisation
The High Precision Head Supports are Orfit's new range of head supports for patient positioning and immobilisation in radiation therapy, usable during simulation and treatment, including MRI simulation. They replace the previous polyethylene head supports.
Typical use
Suitable for radiotherapy departments using base plates, thermoplastic masks, blocks and wedges from the Orfit High Precision and AIO Solution® ranges, forming a reproducible positioning and immobilisation device for adult and paediatric patients.
Key points
- Six models: four adult (Models 1, 2, 5 and 6) and two paediatric for ages 6 to 12 (Models 3 and 4), with or without lateral neck flaps.
- Made of low density foam covered with a coating, resulting in stable cushions that keep their dimensions over time and under frequent use.
- Electrically non-conductive, non-metallic and non-magnetic materials — labelled MR Safe, compatible with MRI simulation.
- Reproducible positioning on base plates, blocks and wedges via positioning knobs on the bottom of the head support.
- Dimensions (range): L 230–257 mm, W 108–120 mm, H 82–92 mm; weight 0.50–0.67 kg.
- Dosimetric properties per cm of material (manufacturer guidance): attenuation 1.19% at 6 MV and 0.78% at 15 MV; skin build-up 3.62 mm (6 MV) and 3.45 mm (15 MV).
- Closed-cell foam: does not absorb cleaning agents; disinfection with an isopropanol-based disinfectant.
